http://uk.news.yahoo.com/pressass/20080331/tuk-two-sex-offenders-released-early-6323e80.htmlWhy couldn't they release someone who was in for a lesser crime? And what are "minor sexual offences" ? To me a sexual offence is a sexual offence no-matter what the size.ooooops, forgot the question (naughty me)What are your views?Thank you very much :)

No sexual offence is minor. People like this can't be 'cured', they definitely shouldn't be allowed to have early release, they shouldn't be released at all

Not all sexual offences are the same, by any means. For example, if I downloaded a porn picture of a 17-year-old girl I'd be a sex offender. If I Had sex with a five year old girl I'd also be a sex offender. The same?I don't think so.fyi I have not done either of these things.

Maybe if every prisoner who would be better off being dealt with by mental health services actually was being dealt with by mental health services, we wouldn't need to free up space in overcrowded prisons by releasing sexual offenders. I guess a minor offence is something like indecent exposure, whereas a major offence is rape.

In my not so humble opinion, if they were released after 85 years, that would still be too early!

It makes me sick to my very core. What the feck is a minor sex offence ? These bastards that let these animals out early should be held to account for any further, and there will be, offences that these animal commit.freed early to wreck more lives, Why ?Do you think those responsible for releasing this scum have any family, do they have children, wives, partners ,loved ones, do these idiots live in a bubble !Bloody morons !

What constitutes a minor sexual offense? That's a pretty broad area...I would rather have some guy who got caught getting it on in a bathroom or peeing in the bushes out of jail / prison then some violent criminal. The biggest problem with the whole 'sex offender' issue is that they have been applied to every crime that could in any way be considered sexual. A rapist? Child molestor? They are definately bad. Some 18 year old highschool kid who mooned a bunch of his friends? He's not a sex offender. Neither is the jogger who peed at the park - or even the drunk who peed in the alley. If it actually said 'minor' sexual offences, it's probably VERY minor.Either trust the people who are in charge of prisons to release the right people and do their job, or put a better proposal (and your tax money to support it) up.And regardless...if the mental health services were getting the funding they need then people who really need help and treatment would be getting it instead of bouncing in and out of jail.

Happy Bee .............shame on you for joining the Sun school of thought. You cant treat every sexual offense the same. The rape of a 5 year old girl is slightly different to kissing a work colleague at a Christmas party when they dont want it.

To get 6 months it would have to be something pretty minor. Maybe they touched a woman's bum on the train or took photos of a woman topless when sunbathing. Personally I'll leave the decision to the courts. I'm pretty sure they weren't in for rape or molesting children with a sentence of 6 months and with 18 days left it's not like they didn't do their time.

As far as I'm concerned any crime that has involved violence against vulnerable groups such as children, older and vulnerable people, do not merit early release regardless of good behavior, they should serve the full term of their sentence, and if they misbehave during their time in prison time would be added on. I would look for alternatives for prisoners that have not commited acts of violence, like community work based sentences.

its a big joke why send these people to prison only to release them early the law is a big joke at the moment i wonder how many immigrants are in jail send them home that will free up places for the criminals

They cost money to keep. It costs less to keep an eye on them and let them pay their own rent, and food.I think it stinks like a dime store cheap cologne but the civil servants in charge of these offenders are not elected to the job. Perhaps we can vote out their boss in the next election and get a new one in that will do something about the sex offenders that is more conducive to the punishment they deserve.

This is what i can not get overwhat on earth is going on how comes people get off so lightly sex offence is sex offence they should do there time and any sex offence is wrong respectshazza

What is the fetish with punishing sex offenders? if someone commits a crime find a fitting punishment. With all the CEO's robbing you blind and all the politicians sending your kids to murder and die abroad you would think anglos would have other criminals to worry about. Yet, it is always the same obsession with sex offenders!!! Chill out... you have bigger problems than sex offenders... for example, why do you fill up your prisoners with non violent offenders? that cost money, cats. Put the money into education and you will have less people to jail. End prohibition and you will free the ghetto from the plague of drug dealing. Legalize prostitution and you'll be able to protect poor women from abuse. REduce defense spending and law and order spending and send these kids to college!!! You'll even be able to pay for their medical bills.... the country will be overrun with professionals of all colors. Oh, wait. Whites don't want that. That's why you are obsessed with punishment. Because if you truly cared about preventing crime, society would have to eb made more equitable. Middle Class whites simply don't want a country without poverty... who would be punish?

do you think that means if i force myself on Matthew mcconaghey I'll do less than 6 months ? hhmmm what an appealing thought !seriously not all sexual offenses are the same, it could just be some bloke who has been knobbing a 15yr old, against the law but hardly makes him a pervert unless of course he was about 97yrs old. xx
