How do I connect my laptop to the internet?

I have a a wireless network already setup in my home and my other toshiba laptop hooks up to this fine. I have a dell inpiron 8500 and i just gave it a fresh install of windows now i dont know how to find a new connection. I go to network connections and i only find a wired one, which is o f no help. If anybody can help me out it would be much appreciated

two things: you need a driver for your wifi card
--or--

there could be a switch somewere...that turns wifi on or off

i have a dell inspiron 1525 n mine has a switch in the right side that u have to switch on in order to get wireless connection...

do u have windows vista or xp?
