What foods should i eat before a 5 mile hike?

I am going on a hike with my friend and her family. They are all super athletic and in shape, and i am the opposite i am so out of shape. And i already told her i would go soo, is there any foods that will like make me ready and that will make me get through the hike? Or any foods that will make me last along time without getting hungry and keep me going. I hope you know what i mean, THank you guys :)
 
Carbohydrates (as mentioned in other answer) 3 hours before the hike, and 1 and half hours before some fruit juice (if you have a juicer prepare it at home). Small amount of water during the hike.
 
My girlfriends dad did a marathon the other week.
He had meals high in carbohydrates (pasta, bread potatoes etc) and took a bag of jelly babies on his run for glucose.
