Should you feel sympathy for a woman who complains about her husband's traits

that she KNEW he had all along? Feel free to substitute the various relationship roles (man, wife, boyfriend, baby mama, etc.....).

I mean, wasn't it your choice to get involved? You didn't really expect your partner to change, did you?

Perhaps not sympathy but compassion. Sounds like she's just venting. I do it...I mean socks don't walk themselves to the hamper...but if you're talking about chronic behaviors such as alcoholism, drug use, etc. then yea, you're right.

I don't think there is anyone in this world who has not become involved thinking or hoping the other person would change. It may annoy you but it is very hard for them, all you can do is try to be sympathetic and supportive.

I would not feel sympathy, nor would I stand and listen to the ranting, I would just walk away.

    I would certainly feel empathetic.

That being said, if she knew it beforehand, I probably wouldn't spend a lot of time listening to the whining and complaining.

If she wants to do something PROACTIVE about her situation, I'm all ears.
