There are the classics, such as Farenheit 451, Stranger in a Strange Land, A Clockwork Orange (which has a movie),1984, Brave New World, etc.

A more recent book, I like the Uglies series like a pervious answerer said. It is really relevant to our beauty obsessed culture and the descriptions are amazing.

As far as scifi futuristic movies go, I like A.I. It doesn't have good reviews and is a fairly recent film, but I enjoyed it.
