I had the same problem, I was getting this error message:

    >> Unplayable content

    >> A media update is required to play this content. to get the update, sign in to Xbox LIVE and play the content again.

    >> status code 51-c00df236

I erased the Optional Media Update in System Settings and it works fine. The instructions given are slightly incorrect (step 3 and 4).

Here are more detailed step by step instructions.

    On "My Xbox":
    1. scroll over to System settings (photo: http://support.microsoft.com/library...emSettings.jpg)

    2. Select Memory, (3rd icon) (photo: http://www.question-defense.com/wp-c...-main-menu.gif)

    3. Select >> All devices << (photo: http://gadgethobby.com/wp-content/pl...sb-support.jpg)

    4. Select >> System Items << second from the bottom (photo but should say "all devices" at the top: http://support.microsoft.com/library...ystemitems.jpg)
    5. Select "optional media update" (photo, not in this photo, on my system, second from top,: http://support.microsoft.com/library...systemdata.jpg)
    6. Select "delete" (my file was created in October 2009, I deleted it)
    7. Log onto Xbox Live
    8. attempt to play the media, re-upload the 5 MB "optional media update"
