China Travel Route Needed. Start Location: Shanghai, End Location: Suzhou?

Hey, I need advice on a route to take to travel around China. preferably trains to planes.

Starting point is at Shanghai, as we will be meeting some friends there, and the finishing point needs to be at Suzhou.

We would like to visit the major tourist destinations in China.

We have around 2-3 weeks. Will be going around the month of June.

And what is the expected cost?

Personally, I think that would be alot of money....preferably around the thousands maybe....?
