If I buy a Motorola Milestone from INDIA, will it work in the USA?

I want a Motorola Milestone and I was going to order one from India. But before I order it, I wanted to know if it will work in the USA. I don't care about going on the internet with it (I do want to use wifi though), but I want to be able to call people and text with it.
