Iphone..so confused! PLEASE HELP ME!?

So i just bought an Iphone off Ebay, and it says that it has been unlocked and that all i need is a sim card from any GSM.. what!? So does that mean i can just go to my TELUS store, buy a super cheap cell, but get the really good plan that i want, take the sim card out, put it in my iphone and everything will work perfectly? will it be the same as if i had bought it from a store (which i couldn't becuase i live in canada, ebay was my only option) PLEASE HELP ME! thank you!

You can't buy a Sim card from telus, they operate under a different format called CDMA. If you want a Sim card, you will have to purchase a rogers cell phone.
