how do i change the phone number on a used samsung magnet?

i'm not sure how to get my number onto here. my mom's ex boyfriend's line is still on our plan and his number is still working, but i want to use the phone now and i can't figure out how to put my number on it instead of his... i know there's not a sim card but i'm lost on everything else. help!?

what you will have to do is call the carrier and have them put that sell phones esn found beneath the battery on your phone line that is the only way to do it
