A friend and I had planned to go to Ft. Benning on the same date and hoped that we'd train together. A long shot, but still. Anyway, he's gold on his initial fitness assessment accept for his running, where he's at 9:10 for a mile and he needs to be at 8:30. If he is put into the FTC and can't pass standards for over a week, will he be able to rejoin the rest of our group where we're at or will he have to start late with phase one? Also, would it be possible for him to lower his mile time in the next week and a half? He's willing to work hard, and the 9:10 wasn't terrible considering he never exercises. The only problem is the lack of time an his general build; he has huge shoulders and is built like a linebacker, minus the muscle. He just doesn't seem like the running type. But could he possibly drop a minute from his mile in that short of time? And how?
