I feel like my computer isn't runnning as fast as it should be?

Computer Specsell Dimension E521AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4000+ Processor Windows Vista Home Premium 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz- 2DIMMs XFX 9600GT 512 MB GDDR3 Video RAM, clocked at 650 MHz 250GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache I ask because it's taking about a minute to boot up, 5-10 seconds to pull up an internet window, and my internet connection fails from time to time. Is there any way I can find out how my computer should be running, and how to make it do that?

When was the last time you cleaned out the cache? It may be that.

First of all, it is Vista (crap) which takes an obscene amount of time to start up. You might want to go into the Windows Mobility Center on your computer and make sure it is on High Performance. I can't help with the internet connection but as far as the window goes, refer to the previous paragraph or get a better web browser. If you are using IE (which sucks) try something like Firefox or Safari, maybe Opera.

Your specs are pretty decentBut Vista (especially Premium) is a very big system resource hogOn XP that would have been a lightning speed computer, but like I said Vista just kind of sucks unless you have like an AlienWareSorry man thats all I can say, I know you cant downgrade to XP without a major cost but you may want to look into Linux (it's free) if your not a Gamer, but remember your leaving the comfort of Windowswww.linux.com/whatislinuxLinux= Speed No Viruses Nice Eye CandyBut 90% of you programs that you enjoy in WIndows wont work, but there are jobs that accomplish the same tasksFirefox = Internet ExplorerPidgin = AIMEvolution/Thunderbird = Outlook ExpressOpenOffice = Microsoft Office+ Many more
