    Blue-Ray Player or PS3?

We are thinking about upgrading to a blue-ray player because we've read it upconverts regular DVDs better than other DVD players.

Now I've done some shopping and a good player would only be about $50 less than a PS3.
While there are a couple games I would like to play, this would mostly be used for DVDs, as I already have a 360. It's more for my parents.
They recently bought a 36" Bravia and the current DVD player just doesn't quite display the quality my 360 does with DVDs.

I just want to know what would give me the best bang for my buck.

Walmart has some Blu Ray players for like $170.00

Cheapest new PS3 price is $299.99

If you are interested in a PS3 for the games there are some Sony exclusives that are pretty fun. God of War 3 for example. If you don't want to play any of the PS3 games why would you purchase a PS3 when the Blu Ray players are considerably less now.

Check the link for blu ray player prices.

PS3 has a much better multimedia capability. It can store a bunch of movies and music right in the hard drive and it also has a "store" where you can rent/buy movies or tv shows. plus if you have netflix, they send you a dvd to access their videos thru ur ps3. its pretty awesome

i had this same dilemma. luckily for me i like video games but in my unbiased opinion id go with the ps3. it can do a hell of a lot more than a blu-ray player and really costs almost the same. you can wirelessly stream pictures, music, videos from your pc, access the internet, stream netflix (which some blue ray players can do). and they continue to add functionality to it.

    PS3 all the way.

If you want a good blu ray disc player then you have to get the Panasonic BD-60 for around $120 at Costco. The best entry blu ray disc player in the market is the Panasonic BD-60 and the Sony PS3. I would not recommend any of those cheap brand blu ray disc players. Keep in mind that the bargain players are low quality and they don't last long. Hope this will help you out.
