no they are only compatible with itunes or winamp media player but if you want to use it with winamp you need to download a plug-in from the website: winamp.com

Nope. Just download iTunes (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/) and send all your music to there...you should be able to just drag it to a new folder in iTunes...iPods are infinitely easier to use when you are using iTunes.
