we have been with dish network and have 1 year left on our contract , now we need to get out because land lord does not want the dish on the property. is there any way to get out of these contracts without getting fined to high heaven.

Tell them your landlord will not let you keep the dish, and then lie and tell them you will probably be moving soon and would like to get Dish network at your new house, but if you have to pay a fine now, you will go with Direct TV when you move. Depending on if you have been a good customer and paid your bill on time, they will probably let you out of paying to cancel early. The first person you talk to will need to switch you over to the "loyalty" (cancellation) dept. and they are the ones you will need to deal with. Good Luck!
