Are Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass" different?

I was thinking of reading either...but i don't know if they are the same or just one story.

Alice in Wonderland is like the first book in the set; Through the looking glass is the sequel. And there's an episode that's published separately (the wasp in the wig).
