Considering the fact that cab drivers are driving for hours on end and accumulating thousands of miles on their odometers, I was wondering how long does a taxi cab last before needing to be replaced? Also, how many gallons of gasoline do taxi drivers buy on a typical work day?

I have seen Ford Crown Vics. (taxis) come thru
the dealer auction with upwards of 425,000 mi.
on the original engine !
