Julius Jones recently signed a contract with the Seattle Seahawks and should be in the mix to start for the team in 2008. Jones had a relatively successful career with the Dallas Cowboys before moving west.
The Seahawks, who also signed TJ Duckett recently, now have a number of quality running back options. Jones is probably the early favorite to be named the starter. He started last season in Dallas and has shown good ability when given carries.
If starts in 2008 and gets between 15 and 20 carries a game for Seattle, my fantasy football projection for him would be 1,050 yards and five touchdowns. If he’s named the starter, expect his draft stock to place him between the fourth and sixth rounds.
The person who this signing affects most might be Shaun Alexander. Not too long ago, Shaun Alexander was a fantasy stud. Now he might soon be a free agent after the Seahawks release him. With Jones and Duckett being more than enough to carry the load for Seattle, Alexander’s run in the Pacific Northwest may soon draw to close.
