.AVI file only plays in divx player but won't seek!?

I downloaded a .avi file but it will only play in divx player and won't work in Windows Media Player. Also it won't seek (let me skip ahead). How do I fix this? I get this error code in WMP C00D1199.

I just want to be able to have it seek in divx.

Download K lite codec pack from www.free-codecs.com/download/K_lite_codec_pack.htm

You should be able to play AVI's in WMP then as well as vlc, DivX etc. But by the sound of the problem and how you can't seek, it may be corrupt file. Corrupt files will play but won't be able to seek and can skip or glitch up.

When you install the divx player, the codec gets installed any you can play it on almost any player. I personally like real player
