Gadgets Program and Sidebar won't open on Windows 7?

When I first got windows 7 I installed two gadgets and for the first few days everything was fine but now the gadgets are gone.

Right-clicking on the desktop and clicking on gadgets does not work. Going into Control Panel ->
Appearance and Personalization -> Desktop Gadgets does NOTHING.
Trying to add or uninstall gadgets is not working.
My UAC is on Default, so technically its on.
In task manager sidebar.exe shows its running.

I have restarted several times but its not working.

My only option is perhaps system restore but if I do that what is to say the problem won't come back? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I'm having the exact same problem, except that the weather gadget that came with Windows 7 is running fine. It wasn't until I installed a new one that I downloaded that I now cannot get Gadgets to open at all. Did the Gadgets you installed come from Windows 7 or from an internet download? I'm thinking that if it's the latter it's likely that the gadget is the cause of the problem. I have no idea how to fix that though. Help, anyone?

You can just open your Task manager and click on sidebar.exe and then End Process... Then right click on Desktop open Gadgets.

Hi im running window 7 ultimate 64bit.. Full version.. I had winfraud.loader32 on my pc and i removed it completely inn safe mode usuing spybot search and desrtoy.. Now my gadgets open but when i drag them on the desktop the dont open or show.. ive tried system restor ive tried system repair with a recovery disc ive reinstalled the gadgets and nothin.. i really need help
