    what was the point of blue-ray? it will be out of date by the time it becomes...

    ...the norm, if it does at all.? was the purpose just to put a few extra dollars in the studio's pockets? and the manufacturers of the players and discs. by the time it pushes regular DVDs out of the way, we'll be downloading and streaming and won't need the disc or the player. we already are, actually. any thoughts?

    1080p is not going away anytime soon. Neither are DVDs. Copyright issues still loom with respect to downloads and streaming.
