idon't know much about computers , so my question is , what's the difference between xvid and avi ? do all xvid videos have " avi" at the end ? like xxxxxxxdvix.avi ?

Xvid is just the codec, like DivX. AVI is the file type.

this may sound stupid but im having problems getting my ps3 to play some avi files and the only change in the files near as i can tell is one id avi and the other is Avi? are they the same? in my computer the also have deferent icons?

all avi types aren't supported by PS3, only some are. The ones that arent workin will have to be converted to mpeg4 so the PS3 can read them
