Whenever i download a torrent i read the comment and people are like "please seed, please please" "its so slow we need seed please" etc. so yea i don't understand lol

If you really think of the words you can figure it out. To seed is to plant something, and to leach is to absorb something. Seeding is when you allow other people to download off of you, causing the downloading process to go much faster, leachers are people who dont seed and are just downloading the movie/torrent

When you seed, you leave the download running so other people can download it from your computer.

The more people you can download from, the faster the downloads go.

seeding is like sharing. the more people sharing the torrent the more seeds there will be. Hence better/faster downloads.

seeding means allowing the torrent to upload awhile once you've downloaded it. If everybody downloads and then quits, it makes it hard for anybody else to download (it's called leeching). Being a good citizen means uploading so other people can enjoy.

We will eventually get to the 'what is seeding' part, but first let's cover a few things.

When you want to download Gossip Girl from Mininova, the computer will search the internet for people who already have downloaded this and allowed others to download it from them.
This is seeding.

There are others who download Gossip girl but don't want others to download it from them. This could be due to the way they were brought up but might also be because the telephone company will charge them extra for letting others download from their accounts.
In any case, when this happes, they are called leachers.

Ok, now,
How fast you download Gossip Girl depends on 2 things; the number of seeders and the number of leachers.

This is tells you how long it's going to take to finish downloading an episode/season of the show.

If it says that there are 999999999999 seeders and 1 leacher, it means that your computer can download more of the show at any one time ultimately leading to a very short wait to see your show.

But.

If it's the opposite, 9999999999 leachers to 1 seeders, then the wait will be forever. Sometimes, the seeder will just stop letting everyone else download from his address and the show you've been waiting for will be unviewable forever.

Sometimes, there are more leachers than seeders. Whether this is good or bad comes down to the difference between the leachers/seeders.

1. If there are 300 leachers but 288 seeders, it won't be fast, but it's also going to be finished way ahead of your mid life crisis.

So now,
SEED PLEASE!!!!!!

By now, you already know what it means; that the people who already have the show stop letting others download it. People make this statement when the show is really good and they are so frustrated that nobody is letting them download it.

If you have a show you like and happen to see that message, do the right thing ok?

2. If there are

Seeder: One who provides files for download.
Leecher: One who is downloading from said seeder.

I believe seeding is when someone has the complete file and is uploading it into the system. Seeds are good because it guarantees a complete download.

Seeders are people who share the file, redistribute, like plant seeds share soil. Leechers are people who download it from other places, like a leech absorbs. Seeders speed up the downloads.

Seeding means Uploading....Whenever You download somthin from any Torrent client...like Utorrent..u will c that after ur downloading is finished...utorent is still uploading it...alot of ppl stop that process onces they get there files...that is they stop Seeding...

Simply put:
Seeding is the uploading of file pieces. Without "Seeders", no one would be able to download any part of a file. On the other end of the scale are the "Leechers". These are the people who are downloading the "Seeds" that make up the whole file.

when you download a torrent you leech off someones file..once its downloaded you seed it back to the site and that allows people to use your file to download as well. the more seeds the faster the download. its like a sharing the wealth type thing.

dont be a leecher!

A "seeder" is someone who keeps their torrent application open, and their downloaded file in their completed list, once their download is complete. This allows for users to download from them, as well as anyone else who is doing the same. The more "seeders," the higher the speeds your torrent can reach.

On the other side is the "leechers," who are basically the people who are downloading the specific torrent.
