i was wondering if cycling (stationery bike) helps with running, especially

uphill running.? I am asking this, because in a 3 mile race today, it was a really hilly course, and my quads were burning (tired). I got 40 seconds worse than my pr which i got two weeks before, and i hvae been training the same, if not harder in those weeks. and i have been cycling and working my quads a lot. It was weird, because there is a really big hill in the beginning, and my quads were just dead after it, and they never got untired, any tips?
