I need to KNOW THE SPECIFIC STEPS IN DETAIL on how to install a .tar.gz from a downloaded .tar.gz file to the final installation step on the Linux Ubuntu operating system. I have read some articles and they give me a brief pass on how to do it -- more explaining on what it is than how to do it. There is more to it!!! I know the principle behind them and I know it is like a Windows .zip file. I know that Windows uses an installation wizard to install .zip file on a Windows operating system (It is easy.), but it appears it has to be manually done for .tar.gz files on Ubuntu. PLEASE HELP! I have read a source that states, "If you see the .tar.gz, it could be compressed files that have a precompiled binary file, or it could be compressed files that have the source code allowing you to compile the application from source."
