    Misleading newspaper headlines?

I think this happens quite often, especially in the tabloid papers. Here's an example from today's Daily Mirror: ALEX TITLE TAUNT screamed the headline. You read the piece and you find that ALEX Ferguson doesn't really TAUNT Arsenal at all. He was asked whether Arsenal's "crushing" 4 nil defeat at Old Trafford in the FA Cup had handed a psychological advantage to Man U in the title race; Fergie says: "You never know, but I hope that's the case. But irrespective of our game against Arsenal, I still think points will be dropped between now and the end of the season." Can't really find a "taunt" in there, can you?

Where is the media NOT misleading in one shape or another. I trust them much less than I do politicians.

They all are, yesterday's headline in the the Sun...........

    "Harry Kills 30 Taliban!"

Then it goes on to say that 'Harry' passed on a call to the air force to send in an air strike.

As far as your example is concerned, it is a very good point, the problem is that people read the headline and ignore the article and then go on to quote the headline as if that is what was actually said and intended.
