my dell inspiron 1525 laptop's cd/dvd rom drive came out. it works when

put back in but it doesnt show up in..? my computer, and the disc just spins without booting up. what happened was my dumb girlfriend got angry at the laptop and she hit it so hard it damaged the hard disk drive. she than, stupidly, began trying to figure out how to get the hard disk drive out. she took out all the screws on the bottom and forgot to put the one for the cd/dvd rom drive back in. so (hard disk is fixed) today the cd/dvd rom drive random popped out (and i dont mean the tray, i mean the whole damn thing) and i dont know what the hell to do. i put it back in correctly but the computer doesnt read it in my computer and the disk spins, the light goes on while its scanning, but than it all just stops after a while with no response from the computer.

what the hell do i do. this is an emergency. i want to play medieval 2 total war and now i cant all because my gf cant control her temper or put screws back when she pulls them out.
alright im gonna try that now mike

no it doesnt. doesnt show up in my computer.

Playing medieval 2 total war is not an emergency. Anyway,

    First try
Take the power supply adapter cord out of the laptop. Remove the battery.
Make sure the screw that hold the CD ROM in is removed.
Push the CD ROM in place and reinstall the screw.
Let it sit for about an hour with no power.
Replace the battery and power cord
    Test it out.

    Second try
Take the power supply adapter cord out of the laptop. Remove the battery.
    Remove the CMOS battery
Let it sit for about an hour with no power.
Replace the battery and power cord
    Test it out.

    Still no luck?

See if it shows up in the BIOS.

You either destroyed the CD ROM or damaged the system board.

    Mike
