How could I burn xvid movies onto my dvd+r disks?

When converting my xvid movie files, what format do i have to put them in in order for them to play on my dvd player? I have a video converter, but i do not know if i should put it into dvd format or mpeg format, etc?

    Thanks to anyone who helps!

You need to put it in DVD format, in order for it to play on your DVD player.

If your in America you want DVD which is NTSC, a great program to use is ConvertX To DVD, it will take any video file then convert it to the correct format and then burn it to disc.
