what is the difference between homo sapiens sapiens and homo sapiens?

I know that both are the same but some books says that homo Sapiens died out and was replaced by homo sapiens sapiens.
 
Some people want to include Neanderthal as Homo sapiens. I think that is why they added that. It would be Homo sapiens neanderthal or ...
 
If I remember correctly from my human origins class, Homo sapiens are the first modern humans that appeared and sapiens sapiens are the contemporary form, us. The first modern humans like us were not quite the same as humans today.
