I have been told a few things about this car.
Here's the story:

I acquired a 1997 Mazda 626 V6 with a recently replaced head gasket, now the car hadn't been driven on a busted head gasket, no water got in, and the car was running fine before then. Now that I have been driving it for a while, the RPM's look like they are reading un-naturally high when driving in over-drive 60-80 mph. The Rpms read at 2500-4000 respectively (60=2500, 70=3200, 80=about 4000).

The answers:
1: Bad timing, check the belts and timing.
2: Bad Transmission
a. check torque converter
b. Might need some time to drop rpm's say after about 10-20 miles.

3:Nothing, Mazda engines like to rev, high rev's on this model is okay.
4: Nothing, The computer was reset durring the replacement of the head gasket and may need some time to register the proper rpms for idling and gear shiffting.

Now if anyone has a different answer please feel free to join in the carpool of responses b/c I will not stop asking this question anytime soon...
