HE IS NOT PLUCKING. About 20 years ago (he is now 37y/o), my parent's green cheek amazon mysteriously went bald from his neck up to right above his eyes, leaving only a little patch of red on the very top of his head (he somewhat resembles a small, green turkey vulture). Other than that, his body has beautiful, full feathers everywhere else. The baldness is on his neck and head, so he can't possibly be plucking them out, plus he's never plucked a single body/wing/tail feather. He went to a couple vets, who tested him for diseases and parasites, and he came back negative on all the tests. He is otherwise, a very happy, active, quite robust and healthy bird. Obviously it's nothing too serious if he's lived 20 years, but we've always wondered about it. Could it be like human male pattern baldness? Anyone else have a mini-vulture?
