reading some of these answers makes me wonder if people are actually reading the question? a good option is twice baked potatoes.
large baking potatoes ( i usually get one potato for every 2 people with a few extra just in case)
milk
butter or margarine
bacon (1-2 strips per potato)
clean and peirce skin of potatoes with a fork. microwave 5-15 min depending on you microwave wattage until tender. in the mean time cook bacon in a skillet on the stove and save bacon grease. once potatoes are cooked and cool enough to handle cut in half length wise and scoop out the middle leaving a shell. take pulp that you scooped out and mash with butter milk cheese, bacon chopped into bits and a little bacon grease. fill each potato shell with mash and bake at 350 until a little brown on top and cheese melts. serve with a salad and you are done.
sweet potatoes with butter and cinnamon and brown sugar
I'd definitely go with baked potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and salad. You can't go wrong with any of those
-Check the sources for recipes! (excluding salad)
You did ask for side dishes right? What I like to make (especially for beginners) is a veggie packet. Easy way-- Take a cake pan and line it with tinfoil, about 2ft by 2ft.( so there are flaps of foil hanging over pan.). spray w/ nonstick-spray. Cut up whatever veggies you like (potato.onion, pepper, mushroom, zucchini, summer squash) put in foil in pan. sprinkle with salt & pepper.fold tinfoil over veggies. bake in oven at 400 for about 35 mins. till veggies are the way you want them!!
When you perfect doing veggie packets you can do them on the grill! As well if you cut the kernels of a couple ears of corn and throw them in too that's awesome too! Add whatever seasonings you want.Hope this helps!
For a start, steak is not an entree. An entree is another word for a starter, like a small seafood cocktail.
For your main you have the steak.
I would accompany the steak with mashed potatoes, steamed green minted peas and diced carrots.
With that I would make a nice button mushroom gravy, and serve the mushrooms over the steak and spoon the gravy over the potatoes and carrots.
I always make fried potatoes and country gravy to serve with my steak. Then you can throw in a garden salad or a cesar salad.

STUFFED ROUND STEAK
1 1/2 lbs round steak, 1/4 inch thickness
1 1/2 cups Italian style breadcrumbs
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon butter, melted
1/4 cup fresh parsley, minced
garlic powder (for sprinkling)
3 tablespoons Parmesan or Romano cheese, grated
1/2 teaspoon Hungarian paprika (optional)
1/3 cup chopped red or yellow onion
8 thin slices pancetta or bacon
Olive oil spray
Cut steak into 8 2X4 inch strips. Lightly season the strips with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Combine breadcrumbs, melted butter and olive oil, minced parsley, grated cheese and paprika. Spread this mixture on each steak slice.
Roll up slice with stuffing mixture inside. Wrap a slice of pancetta or bacon on the outside of each roll and fasten with a wooden toothpick or tie up with a piece of cotton string. Whichever you use, soak the toothpick or string in water for a minute or so before you use it to prevent scorching.
Spray the rolls with olive oil spray (or brush on plain olive oil). Sprinkle with garlic powder.
Broil the rolls slowly over hot coals until the pancetta or bacon has become crispy. If it begins to dry, spray lightly with olive oil again during the cooking, being careful of flare-ups. Turn frequently until done.
Garnish with fresh parsley sprigs. Serve on buttered and grilled rolls.
4 Servings (2 each).
