Tigerdirect.com will have LCD and Plasma HDTVs at a reasonable price as well as monitors which is all you need for that use and are a lot cheaper .

Blue Ray is wasted on a mediocre TV. Save your money and buy DVDs until the technology gets cheaper.

You don't need an HDTV, but it definitely helps.

The PS3 and bluray has a max resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. You'll need a TV with this resolution in order to enjoy your games and movies in this HD format.
