In Washington DC is a salary between 35-40k a year livable?

I've been living paycheck to paycheck for the past eight years and think I stand a good chance at this job offer. The salary range is -40k and it's full benefits- In Rhode Island, I would have a bit of a disposable income on this range but I'm thinking in DC I wont have a chance. :-(

it depends on what living conditions your are used to and how far you are willing to drive. In any decent / safe neighborhood in southern maryland, northern virgina or dc you will just make it. but do not expect to much for your money and i hope you are only supporting yourself because, these are very high dollar living areas.
