PUK code locked on my Rogers cell?

I put a code on my roger LG shine cell phone, and now it doesn't allow me to do anything, not even receive calls. I called Rogers and they said i would have to buy a new SIM card, is this my only option or can they unlock it if i brought it to them?

If you were prompted to enter a PUK code, and attempted to enter this yourself by guessing, then after 10 attempts it burns the SIM (usually shows "SIM Blocked" once this has happened). If this is the case, then yes the agent at Rogers was correct, you would have no other option but to buy a new SIM card. This is a built-in security feature on all SIM cards used worldwide to help prevent fraudulent usage.
