On average, how much does surgery to repair patent ductus arteriosus cost for a dog? There is very little information on this. Most vets are more concerned with money than care, so I would like to know how much, ballpark, this has cost for others.
Just got the price, it will be $2200 to $2500, without complications, for the "plug" type of repair via the femoral artery/ arteriogram. ( I have no idea what the open chest surgical repair would cost.) This includes the cost of the echocardiogram that was required to diagnose the problem. A dog breeder in another state got approximately the same pricing.
I took my dog to UT Veterinary School for her surgery. The surgery itself was $1500. The visit before surgery was $500 and after surgery was $500. My dog was also on heart meds before and after for about 6 months. The medicine was $50 per month.
