[Answer: As the first poster said, even if YOU have a fast Internet connection, it won't necessarily mean you'll have a fast download speed. If you have a lot of leechers and few seeders, clearly, your download speed is going to be low. Try deleting some trackers if you can. Otherwise, try using µTorrent or Azureus, as possible alternatives anyway. If you're running an Internet browser, MSN, etc. in the background, it will also slow down your download rate, so limit what Internet related programs you have running while downloading torrents.]

Well, even if you have a fast internet connection but the speed on downloading torrents depends on the number of seeders of the torrent you are downloading. When the torrent has less seeders, don't expect that your download will speed up. Just remember that the more the seeders your torrent has, the faster the download is.

Assuming you have no hardware issues, do this:

    (1) Run a FULL anti-virus scan with a good virus scanner. Get free editions of AVast or Antivir. Use the latest virus definitions file. But don't install or run more than one anti-virus at the same time.

    (2) Run anti-spyware scans with Spybot S&D and malwarebytes.

    (3) Ensure all Microsoft security updates are applied.

    (4) Run disk cleanup to delete old temp files and other junk

(5a) Run chkdsk once to scan for file system errors. How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP

(5b) Run a thorough disk defrag. Use a good defragmenter for this, and also run a boot-time defrag to fix the MFT and page file if they are fragmented. You can check out Diskeeper 2009, which is widely acknowledged to be the best defragger around. Their website has free 30-day trial versions. (6) Disable unnecessary background processes and services that take up memory.

    (7) Make sure all the hardware components have the latest and most stable drivers. Video card performance in particular is strongly dependent on drivers.

I can advise you to download this software, which can extremely help-http://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
