    Domain name taken hostage?

A U.S. company, in business for many years, did not register all possible domain names. Now another company has taken one of the domain names (the company's trademarked, registered, incorporated full name) and registered it. Anyone who types in the company's full name plus .com gets a website with trojan horses. Does the real company have to pay this company (apparently in Britain), for its name, or is there something else they can do?

I looked up the British company on WhoIs.com and got www.redregister.com.

If the domain name has been already taken, nothing can be done. May be you can contact the current domain name holder for a domain name bargain if he/she wishes to sell it. You can get the contact detail of a domain name holder by having a whois lookup at WhoisXY.com Good luck.
