Correct. You can buy an unlocked iphone--however it will cost more because you are not getting a contract for x years from a phone company.

there are rumors that you will be able to do that soon. but it will cost 599. look on craigslist, pepole sell them in new condition for aeound 250. you know the phone is way thicker then touch right?
