Is my husband's 1969 star spangled murray banana seat bike real?

my husband's hobby is collecting older bikes. he received a star spangled 1969 banana seat bike recently. Someone told him it wasn't a real bike. Does anyone own one or have pictures of this bike? It is really bothering him. And also if anyone has any banana seat bikes from 1964-1973 or know of anyone that has any it would be very helpful. Even if it's not in good shape, it could be parts to fix up another one.

yes, i have the same bike and same issue red int the front and fades back with the bma/6 badge on the seat stem my serial #0004874
