No...You need to have a player that has that capability. If by HD-DVD you mean Blu-ray, then you need a Blu-ray DVD player or a PS3, and you can play regular dvd's in those players. If you mean HD-DVD, that is the technology that Blu-ray beat out, you would need a HD DVD player or a Xbox 360 w/HD DVD player attachment.

No you will need an HD dvd player. Since Hd dvd's are a different format.
