I found this old, heavy, solid copper ashtray...I have some copper polish but the problem is that I don't think the previous owner EVER cleaned it..lol
It has this thick crust of burnt on ash that's hard as a rock ! I scrubbed it with a toothbrush and it didn't put a dent...Is there a chemical or something that I have around the house that will soak this crust off without damaging the copper ?

I work with copper on a daily basis and know it is VERY difficult to get clean. Try soaking it in WD-40. It should remove any blemishes whilst keeping the copper looking nice. It will also get rid of the burnt ash.
