I've tried it the way my PS2 manuals said to do it but apparently I don't have the power to do that sort of stuff according to my PS2 even though I own it.
If not that is there anyway to reset my password without knowing the old one?
My parents don't touch my PS2, they can't work the thing.

Try the combo 0-0-0-0 for the password. I didn't know what mine was and i did that and it worked.
