UPDATE: After it is all warmed up, it runs pretty well... starts back up and all. It is after it sits for a little while it acts up in the manner i descroved below. Need some suspects...

A good description, as best i can, if what happened this time:

A lurking problem my car had that made me rush to the ship to get it 'fixed' is starting to re-emerge. On some mornings, I will go to the car, and it will act as though it does not want to start, like it is out of gas, kind of. This time, the tank is full. I filled it yesterday. It is full tank of gas. This is what happened....

I go to start it, and it turns over and over and over. Thank GOD I have a strong battery.. .i owe it a charge, i am amazed at its power (Interstate.) It does not want to start. It acts just like it did when it wouldnt start the first time... I turn the key to put it nback in the Run position, it shuts off. Does this for like.... 45 seconds, whether i pump the gas or not.

I do what i did the first time i got the car to start in this situation... I want one mionute, maybe two, withthe car ignition on. I come back to start it. Same thing, starts and dies... but I hear the littlest 'catch,' like it wanted to start.

I go with that. I start it right back up. umping gas. A long, drawn out 15 seconds of turning over... then i stop for one second, then i turn the key... it starts, catches, and is now idling.

The first time we changed the Coil Pack to get it to start. I am questioning this. My coil pack is now brand new. I am wondering, does this sound like:

1) Ignition timing? --- has been suspected before, if you follow my previous posts
2) Fuel Pressure - I have a NEW Fuel filter, 2 weeks old
3) Something else? --- Starter? Starter Motor?

It has also been suggested I -likely- have a fouled Spark Plug number Three. I am too chicken to take it off myself, because i dont think i would ever be able to get it back on....

I have a 1995 Ford Escort 1.9L LX Auto trand with 150,000 miles that needs an oil change. I would apprecuate ANY and ALL input on this, as this problem is bad on some mornings... and *seems* to be worse on colder mornings. I actually had started it every 4 hours for a day, and it seems like it took a couple of turns (4 or 5) to start after it sat for 3 hours or so..

I wounder if it could be timing and/or ignition timing related, and if i should have a fuel pressure test done, or what.

If my car doesnt start it will be like when I paid the $90 for a tow truck and $150 for coil pack, $50 for the Coil Pack and $100 for the diagnostic...

PS, my car has Code 172, 02 sensor/EGR or EGO Bank 1 Exhaust, whatever that means. Had it for some time. May not have anything to do with the starting.

Thank you for your input about what to check and do, or the smartest diagnostic to be run, to slove my abovementioned starting problem. Thank You.

Sincerely, - Joseph
