Can I import a sub-account to another primary account on att?

I had an account for years but it was in my mothers name and she passed away. I had att u-verse but i still had a sbcglobal.net e-mail address. they wouldn't let me keep my old address when i got it hooked up in my name. i'm hoping i can import my old sub-account under my new one so i can still keep the same e-mail....i can still logon to my old address but i don't know for how long..
