Can I use a cable modem with Verizon FiOS?

Since it's only fiber optics to the curb, and then co-ax into the house.................

My roommates have the FiOS modem downstairs in the basement and I truly despise wireless internet.

With Comcast, the cable modem used to be in my room. I just want a direct connection again.

I doubt it. I think verizon would give you a modem when you set up the service with them.
