Not much in premium found in NZ. The Pinot Noir is their leading red grape. Their Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are used almost exclusively for Bordeaux style blends.

Fromm Pinot Noir la Strada
Unison Selection Hawkes Bay
Can probably find all of the above under $50
New Zealand is best known for it's white wines, especially it's Sauvignon Blanc and elegant Chardonnay's. Some of the better are:
Brancott vineyards Sauvignon Blanc Reserve
Kumeu River Chardonnay
Grove Mill Riesling.
All of those mentiond are among the best of NZ. Just about everything else I've tried I would call table wine.
