Ipod Mini stereo cable- HOW DO YOU USE IT?

I'm guessing it is a cable with a headphone jack on one end and a red and white on the other, you would hook the red and white into a stereo and set it to the proper input, and then plug the thing into your ipod and turn the volume up. Put the volume up all the way on the ipod and start h teh volume on the stereo low and then use the stereo to turn the volume up and down.
