Can you legally date and eventually marry your dead sister-in-law's sister?

I'm writing a story based entirely in the real world with fictional characters and a story based in little truth. I AM NOT ASKING THIS FOR PERSONAL REASONS. The main character is dating his sister-in-laws sister. Take into account that his brother and the sister-in-law are already dead. Would it be legal in the state of Maryland for these two to date and eventually marry?

wouldn't the sister-in-law's sister already be their wife? Or even just their sister-in-law?

What are you on? is this a riddle? What's happening?

Yes. As long as the two are not related to each other through blood. The term in-law is used to define a relationship that is made through the legal act of marriage.
