Make sure you switch your number over to AT&T before you cancel with Verizon. Once you port your number, that will cancel your Verizon contract.

That sounds like an ascending ring tone. It's probably in the ring tone settings....go into the settings where you set up the ringtone to vibrate, ring, silent etc....the problem should be there
